Ruma Products philosophy is that each well is unique and requires a tailor-made solution. For that reason we provide a wide range of water swelling, oil swelling and hybrid swelling elastomers. With our in-house laboratory and a team of engineers we are also able to quickly develop, test and manufacture swelling elastomer designs for specific applications. Our technical support team also provides 24/7 assistance in case of any issues during installation or operations.

Founded in 1937 Ruma has built up a huge knowledge and experience in rubber technology. With the in house compound development in our laboratory and a team of process and mechanical engineers our key is to work closely with our customers to design elastomer solutions in multiple disciplines.

Did you know the world’s first ever water swelling packer was run into an oil well in Oman in 2001? That swell packer was developed together with Shell and manufactured at Ruma. Since then the swelling elastomer market evolved from being a high tech novelty to a standard commodity completion tool.

Since then, fed by challenges from different industries, the innovation in swelling elastomer technology continued. This resulted in Ruma Products in 2011 with a second generation swelling compounds sold under the brand name Oblique.
